Description:
Support for women in psychiatric treatment- since 2002!

in_treatment is a membership moderated community for women who are in treatment for mental health problems and are looking for some support online. "In Treatment" has been around for over 8 years now and we are still going strong!

Even if you "only" take meds and are not in therapy/hospital programs etc. you are still welcome to join.

ABOUT MEMBERSHIP

To join the community there are 2 steps:

  1. Fill out the membership application form here.

  2. Then go straight to this page to request membership approval. Without this part, I won't be able to allow you posting access.
All comments are screened on the form entry- it will not be publicly visible.

You will be granted access within roughly a day :)

ABOUT POSTING

Members can use this community to vent, ask questions, offer advice and support, share experiences etc. I welcome members to turn to this community rather than engaging in self-destructive behaviours. Off topic posts/spam will be deleted.

We are all here to support each other and offer empathy and advice. If you are suicidal or feeling particularly unusual, please contact your local psychiatric services/health care workers. This community can only support you- some situations require immediate, professional care.

It is not helpful to be judgemental of other members. Everybody approaches their problems differently and I encourage you all to communicate with this in mind.

I will remove anybody behaving inappropriately or upsetting other members. Going to a member's personal LJ to continue a discussion from "In Treatment" is invasive and inappropriate unless you are already friends.

I am not always able to keep up with every post on this community so please email me if you are having trouble with other members or have any queries.

For your privacy, you may choose to post with a 'friends only' security level: this will ensure that only other members will be able to view your post.

DISCLAIMER:

"In Treatment" is for women only because I have spent various stints in mixed patient environments and at times I felt that a single sex environment would have been more helpful. Many women value space to discuss certain topics in an women-only forum and this is not often available.
